Rules / robots rules

robots.nofollow

Default
error
Plugin
robots

A page does not ask search engines to ignore its links.

Why: nofollow, or none, stops search engines from following the page's links, so the pages it links to are found and ranked less.

The rule reads the robots and googlebot meta tags. For a URL, it also reads the X-Robots-Tag header, with its unscoped and googlebot: directives.

When off: pages with nofollow pass.

<!-- ✗ Fails -->

<!-- ✓ Passes -->
<meta name="robots" content="index, follow" />
